Join us for a free, hands-on field experiment exploring how pruning and chop-and-drop management can influence mature creosote, soil health, and desert ecosystems.

Participants will work with 24 mature creosote plants to establish baseline soil conditions, test different levels of pruning, measure biomass removal, and return pruned material to the soil as chop-and-drop mulch. We will also explore Johnson-Su compost extract as a soil inoculant and track changes in plant growth, soil conditions, and organic matter over time.

This field day is the first in a three-part restoration study focused on learning from the land through observation, experimentation, and active management. Participants will gain hands-on experience with creosote management, soil testing, biomass measurement, chop-and-drop mulching, and Johnson-Su compost extract.

A grant-funded lunch will be provided following the workshop.
