After-School STEAM Instructor
Job Description:
The after-school STEAM instructor is responsible to learn established curriculum, participate in development and refinement of new curriculum, create and use packing lists, identify materials for orders lists, maintain orderliness in materials storage, prepare materials for class projects, and cooperate with Volunteer Coordinator in material preparation. The instructor is expected to pack and transport supply bins weighing 30-60 pounds between Cruces Creatives and school sites, maintain an orderly project storage space at the schools where allowed, and make sure to “leave no trace” after class sessions. The instructor should be prepared to attend and host an activity at STEM nights when scheduled by their schools.
Requirements for the position:

- Ability to, and enthusiasm for, work with youth (particularly 4th and 5th grade students)
- Ability to manage students in safe and kind way
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to learn quickly and manage project timelines
- Ability to develop class projects, create supply order lists, etc.
- Availability after school Monday - Thursday (2pm-5pm)
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift 65 pounds
Additionally, the instructor is expected to learn the use of tools and equipment used in class and for class prep, understand and communicate safety protocols, provide safety equipment and personal protective gear as needed. The instructor will carry a first aid kit and be familiar with the basics of first aid.
The instructor is expected to monitor Slack and email communications each work day, access and use reference documents on Google Drive, maintain appropriate class records, take and upload appropriate class photos, maintain professional communications with parents, LCPS and NMSU STEM Outreach staff, and report issues immediately.
The instructor is expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire for all classes, meetings, work sessions, etc; develop good professional relationships with LCPS staff, and encourage project based learning opportunities through Cruces Creatives Maker Link program.
Compensation for the position is $17.50/hour at 20 hours a week.
