FACILITY

The Cruces Creatives main facility, at 205 East Lohman Avenue in Las Cruces, is a 12,000 square foot space organized into multiple work areas, each suited to a particular type of making. Wireless internet is available to members throughout the building.

MAIN ROOM

The main room is the heart of the makerspace. You'll often find classes running in this space, groups gathered here working on larger projects, friends planning the next steps for their creations, team members at work on charitable programs, and a who-knows-what collection of in-progress projects.  This room houses a wide variety of materials and supplies--feel free to look around and use the materials that are available. In this room you will find:

  • Stained glass tools and materials
  • Mold making and resin tools
  • Laptops available for member use
  • Cricut die-cutting machines and large format vinyl cutter
  • Beads and jewelry tools
  • Book press and book binding tools
  • Crafting materials
  • Fine arts supplies, including printmaking, drawing, and painting supplies.

CONFERENCE ROOM

The Conference Room, as the name suggests, is a meeting room. Members have access to this room, and non-members can rent the space. This space is also used to host the First Friday Art Gallery, so you can enjoy a new exhibit almost every month. In the Conference Room, you will find:

  • A conference table with seating for up to 15 people
  • A white board
  • A projector (ask a staff member)

TEXTILE LAB

The Textile Lab is an area dedicated to all things fabric. In the Textile Lab, you will find:

  • Sewing machines
  • Industrial sewing machine
  • Ironing and pressing stations
  • Shoe patch machine
  • Large cutting tables
  • Large variety of fabrics
  • Self-healing cutting mats
  • Hand tools
  • Knitting machines and crochet and knitting hand tools
  • Sergers

AUDIO-VISUAL LAB

The Audio-Visual room is designed to provide professional results. In the Audio-Visual Room, you will find:

  • Professional-quality cameras
  • Green, black, and white screens for photography/videography
  • Lighting umbrellas with many light sources
  • Light boxes
  • A sound-absorbing recording booth with computer hardware and software
  • Computer workstations with professional video, photo, and audio editing software
  • A variety of USB audio interfaces/mixers, microphones, MIDI keyboards, and musical instruments for audio recording

ELECTRONICS LAB

The Electronics Lab is designed to allow members to explore digital and analog electronics, 3D-printing, and other robotic technologies. In the Electronics Lab, you will find:

  • Several 3D-printers (filament and resin)
  • 3D-printing supplies
  • Computer workstation with CAD programs
  • Laser engraver (engraves and cuts)
  • Workbenches
  • Soldering stations
  • A wide variety of specialized electronics equipment
Safety and training classes are available for the laser cutter and 3D printers--to learn more, visit the events page, or visit Shop Manager Lindsey McDonald to schedule a session. 

MULTIPURPOSE ROOM

The Multi-Purpose Room offers a flexible space for special events involvig up to 40-50 people. In the Multi-Purpose Room, you will find:

  • A stage with sound system
  • Tables and chairs that can be set up for events
  • Project storage
  • Looms and fiber arts materials
  • Precious Plastics recycling system
  • Disassembly projects
The Multipurpose Room also hosts a monthly all-original open mic as part of the First Friday Downtown Arts Ramble. 
WOODSHOP

The Woodworking Shop is a fully-equipped shop for creating with wood and other materials. In the Cruces Creatives Woodshop, you will find:

  • CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines - these are computer-controlled routers
  • Tables saws and a router table 
  • Band saws, scroll saws, and drill presses
  • Sanders, including an oscillating spindle sander
  • Lathe, planer, joiner, hand-held routers
  • Sliding compound miter saws
  • Workbenches with clamps and vices
  • Carving and hand tools
Safety training is required for all members before using the woodshop. Safety trainings are listed on the events calendar and are free to makerspace members.


TEACHERS ROOM

The Teachers Rooms is a dedicated space for our STEM teachers to create prototypes and build curricula for kids to learn. Some of the schools where our instructors teach at include:

  • Valley View Elementary School
  • Alameda Elementary School
  • Columbia Elementary School
  • Raices Del Saber Community School
  • Loma Height Elementary School
  • Sunrise Elementary School
  • MacArthur Elementary School


VELO BIKESHOP

The Hub Community Bike Shop is operated by our partner nonprofit, Velo Cruces, as a place to maintain and repair bicycles. In the Bike Shop, you will find:

  • Wheel truing equipment
  • Bike parts and accessories
  • Specialized bike repair tools
  • Instruction and bicycle repair assistance
Velo Cruces regularly hosts bike repair workshops. For more information or to register, visit the events calendar
