This spring, you can add an evergreen sumac to your land! Evergreen sumac (Rhus virens) is a native, extremely drought-tolerant member of the mango/cashew family that makes edible citrus berries and that quickly grows into a dense, evergreen plant around 8' in height and 8' in width. With pruning, it makes an excellent hedge or privacy screen, and it can also be pruned to take the form of a small tree.

As part of the Seeding Regenerative Agriculture Project, Cruces Creatives is offering a limited number one-gallon evergreen sumac plants for $20 each, below the cost of purchase and shipping/transportation, to promote the more widespread use of this native, drought-tolerant plant that also makes edible fruit. To help maintain availability for as many people as possible, purchases are limited to two plants per person.

This plant sale is designed especially for participants at the Food Forest Privacy Screen and Mulch Pathways and Desert Food Plants field days, and you're encouraged (but not obligated) to attend one of these free events to learn how best to plant and care for your evergreen sumac.
