This exhibition is featuring: "Overseas Filipino Worker: Blue Denim"by Eleazar Maslian Blue Denim is a solo exhibition by artist Eleazar Maslian who recently graduated with his BFA from NMSU in Spring 2024. It consists of his BFA thesis work, which investigates the history of American colonialism in the Philippines through photographs, digital collages, and laser etchings on blue jeans. He hopes to illuminate this underrepresented history, to investigate it, and to invite further consideration on the immigrant experience in the United States. Eleazar Maslian is a New Mexico-based photographer born in Benguet, Philippines. He graduated with a BFA from New Mexico State University in 2024 and earned an AAS degree in Graphic Design from Eastern New Mexico State University - Roswell in 2021. His work consists of photographs translated onto raw materials. Imagery and materials draw from the history of American colonialism in the Philippines. He intends to invite open discussion on this colonial past as well as the ongoing impacts on the lives of Filipino-Americans.
