Velo Cruces Bike Facilities Map Review

  • Class/Conference Room
Velo Cruces, Inc. along with City Councilor Cassie McClure are asking the bicycling and pedestrian communities to assist in planning future facilities

Once every five years, the Mesilla Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) reviews the Metropolitan Transit Plan (MTP). The resulting MTP becomes the blueprint for bicycle and pedestrian facilities improvements for the next decade.

Velo Cruces feels that a "concerted voice" will garner more attention during this process. Therefore, Velo Cruces with assistance from Councilor Cassie McClure will hold a meeting on Thursday, July 18th for this purpose. The goals of the meeting will be:

  1. To identify at least three east/west routes that are preferred by the cycling community.
  2. To identify at least three north/south routes that are preferred by the cycling community
  3. To identify problem areas that need to be addressed over the next decade
  4. To identify other guiding issues, e.g. continuity of bicycle facilities
  5. To prioritize all of the above so that the most critical issues get attended to first

The meeting will be in room 2007C of City Hall and will take place from 6-8 PM. We are seeking a diverse audience but the room is limited to 30 people. Velo Cruces will provide light refreshments. Please send an email to velocruces@gmail.com in order to reserve a seat at the table.

Here is a link to the digital map for you to review prior to the in-person meeting:  MVMPO Bicycle Facilities Map (https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/b2aa3e2b38594efea5697957eb7ed07a?org=las-cruces).

If you are unable to attend the in-person meeting, please submit your suggestions via email to velocruces@gmail.com. We will compile them and submit them to the MPO.
