This Halloween-themed evening of story and song brings together storyteller and mental health advocate Micah Pearson with the Old-Time Pharmaceuticals, Las Cruces’ local provisioners of recreational and therapeutic folk music, for a special show connecting spooky stories, music, and mental wellness.

This event is part of the "Songs, Stories, and Social Good" performance series, hosted in cooperation between Cruces Creatives, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces, and other local partners. The mission of the performance series is to have each performance both support the arts in Las Cruces (by bringing global performers to the city or by showcasing local talent) and serve a “social good” theme that advances other charitable missions. The social good theme for this event is mental wellness.

Tickets are on a pay-what-you-can scale, with suggested donations between  $15 and $25. Online tickets are available at $15, $20, or $25; other pay-what-you-can prices can be paid at the door.

About the Performers

Micah Pearson—is, like you, a lot of things. A writer whose work has been featured in USA Today and publications of the Washington Post. An artist and illustrator whose images have been displayed everywhere from books, art galleries, board games, to the Smithsonian. But more than that: Micah is, like you, a person who loves a great story, which is why he has been invited to share his own as a speaker and mental health advocate in conferences and legislatures all over the country.

The Old-Time Pharmaceuticals—Las Cruces’s local provisioners of recreational and therapeutic folk music—write and perform traditional-sounding, transportive folk songs with the irreverent energy of a jam session in your kitchen. For fans of Pete Seeger, the Clancy Brothers, Stan Rogers, and other standard-bearers of storytelling, sing-along folk music, the Old-Time Pharmaceuticals will be a delightful kick in the pants.
