  • Studio Art Classes/Critique Sessions

    Develop your drawing and painting through studio art classes and critique sessions! You can register for just the studio art classes, just the critique sessions, or both.

    Studio Art Classes

    1st and 3rd Wednesdays (June 2 and 16)

    2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    Classroom/Conference Room

     

    This responsive class focuses on the unique goals of each student across a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, water soluble oil paints, pastels, and colored pencil. Subject matter will comprise still life, landscape, figure, and architectural space.

     

    Critique Sessions

    2nd and 4th Wednesdays (June 9 and 23)

    2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    Classroom/Conference Room

     

    This is an opportunity for students to have their work critiqued by an award-winning artist with a master of fine arts degree and 55 years of teaching and creating art. Mr. Huber will gently suggest some color directions, compositional changes, and answer any questions students have about their work. Bring 3-5 pieces for critique.

    Price: $40 for 2 studio art classes, $40 for 2 critiques, or $70 for both. You can also register for 

    • a single critique, on either the 2nd or the 4th Wednesday of the month, for $20, or 
    • a single studio art class, on either the 1st or the 3rd Wednesday of the month, for $20. 
    Cruces Creatives members receive a 10% discount.

  • What to bring:

  • sketchbook and pencil for the first class
  • additional materials can be acquired, with instructor guidance, based on the interests of individual students

About the Instructor:

Wayne Carl Huber, MFA, nationally recognized artist and educator, has been teaching all age levels for over 50 years. He has taught at colleges and universities in the St. Louis area. Since moving to the Las Cruces area in 2000, Mr. Huber has taught at many venues in Las Cruces, including the public schools.
