Come join us and build a book from scratch! You’ll assemble your own papermaking frame and deckle, blend the pulp, learn about pH as you use natural dyes to color your handmade pages, and learn how to bind them in a book. But that’s not all, you are also going to get to design your own cover art and use the laser cutter to etch it out. After you’ve soldered your LEDs, switch and battery pack, you’ll be able to install them in your cover, thus completing your amazing Illuminated Journal.

This class is designed with 4th-6th grade students in mind. Through a generous grant from NMSU STEM Outreach, we are able to bring the class to you free of charge.

Classes meet in person and are limited to 10 students per session. Students will be required to wear masks. Students should select either the morning class OR the afternoon class. We ask that adults be prompt picking up students so we can avoid congestion and maintain the limit of persons in the building.
