3D printing as a general technology has the potential to be a disruptive technology; by combining multiple conceptual elements of manufacturing, design, and material-science, 3d printers allow for bespoke and ad-hoc manufacturing on a desktop scale.

An introductory level class on 3d printing. Basics of machine operation, software, and associated medias. Demonstrations of techniques, general knowledge, insight and tips from a self-proclaimed expert.

This class will focus primarily on the skill of 3d printing, and not the design of 3d media.

>History, concepts, and types of 3D printers

>3D file formatting concepts

>Introduction to slicer software

>In-depth function and purpose of slicer, application for prints

>Basic machine parts, functions, and calibrations

>Bed adhesion, Retraction, and other tricks

Instructor details:

Reese Luckie is the resident 3d printing guru at Cruces Creatives, as well as the main proprioter of Panders Prints, a full service 3d printing shop based in Las Cruces, NM

What to bring:

a laptop computer if available, 8 gig USB jump drive
