Learn practical ways to bring new life and value to your laptop, smartphone, or desktop computer.

In this workshop, you will gain an understanding of how older technology compares to newer technology. Topics to be covered include:

  • Portable bootable operating system
  • Batteries, memory/RAM, hard drives, processors and bus speeds of these
  • Alternative uses of devices (e.g., embedding a smartphone in a door for a security camera)

Bring a working laptop and any older technological equipment you’d like to explore upcycling.

Ages: 18 and older, or 13-17 with a parent/guardian present

Class cap: 8

Cost: By donation at the door.

About the Instructor

Christopher Robin Consaul has worked in the computer science and tech industry for 10 years, and he has a longstanding passion for archaic tech and preventing electronic waste.
