Receptionist & Administrative Assistant

Job Description: 

The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant is the first individual community members interact with at Cruces Creatives by welcoming people in person, by managing our phone, general email accounts, and messages through social media. The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant is expected to be friendly and helpful, giving tours of Cruces Creatives, and to promptly support visitors, members, volunteers, community guests, and business partners. The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant will also be responsible for data entry such as - managing memberships, contacts, donations, and event registrations through our computer systems; and responsible for front desk finances - managing daily cash counts, running sales, tracking donations, etc. The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant also helps with some basic facility management such as tracking and stocking basic consumables and keeping the front clear and welcoming; and helps with some basic administrative duties such as keeping office and front desk supplies stocked and organized, tracking special events upcoming in our calendar system, and handling incoming and outgoing mail. The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant is also responsible for other duties including opening and closing the facility and ensuring the facility is secured. 

All Cruces Creatives Team members are expected to support the mission of Cruces Creatives, and to collaborate with the Team and other project partners to ensure the overall success of Cruces Creatives and its programs - this may mean other unique responsibilities as needed. 

The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant is a part-time position, with 20 hours a week, following a schedule of Tu - Sa 9:30am - 1:30pm.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with computer systems including email, shared cloud environments, word processors, spreadsheets. Preference for additional previous experience with data entry systems.
  • Ability to accurately enter data.
  • Ability to accurately manage a cash box and financial transactions.
  • Ability, and enthusiasm, to interact with the public.
  • Ability to manage spaces and to keep them clean and organized.
  • Ability to develop communicate clearly and work with team members.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English and Spanish preferred.

Compensation:

The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant will receive $16/hour, which is a gross amount that is subject to all local, State, Federal, and any other taxes and deductions as prescribed by law. Payment shall be distributed on a bi-weekly basis. 

The Receptionist and Administrative Assistant is also eligible for Cruces Creatives' Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit, and will receive 0.04 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the first year, 0.06 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the second year, and 0.08 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the third year and ongoing years.

Summer Jewelry Instructor

Job Description: 

The Summer Jewelry Instructor is responsible for designing, developing, and leading jewelry and small metals based programing for youth of 10-18 years of age. This individual will be responsible for developing and documenting built curriculum; managing and leading classes, setting up and taking down classes; preparing materials for class; participating in the clean-up of all spaces and materials related to any summer classes; and for the health and safety of the children, which includes making sure they comply with all safety rules and behaviors of Cruces Creatives. The Summer Jewelry Instructor will submit programming proposals for review for appropriateness of materials and skill development, and will participate in discussions of improvement of the programming and instruction approaches. They will also prepare and submit program descriptions and images needed for program posting in a timely manner. The Summer Jewelry Instructor will also be responsible for the care and upkeep of tools as required by class use, for preparing the space to be ready for class, and for the proper storage of class materials and facility tools. 

All Cruces Creatives Team members are expected to support the mission of Cruces Creatives, and to collaborate with the Team and other project partners to ensure the overall success of Cruces Creatives and its programs - this may mean other unique responsibilities as needed. 

The Summer Jewelry position temporary full-time summer position, 9am - 4:30pm, mid May till the end of June. Some time exceptions can be made, please indicate with application if differing schedules are needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge and previous experience of small metals tools, safety, techniques and trade norms. 
  • Preference for previous jewelry and small metals teaching experience.
  • Ability to and enthusiasm for teaching youth (10 - 18 years old, aka 3rd grade to high school students).
  • Ability to manage students in safe and kind way.
  • Ability to develop class projects, to form curriculum, create supply order lists, etc.
  • Experience with computer systems including email, shared cloud environments, word processors, spreadsheets.

Compensation:

The Summer Jewelry Instructor will receive $17 - $18/hour, which is a gross amount that is subject to all local, State, Federal, and any other taxes and deductions as prescribed by law. Payment shall be distributed on a bi-weekly basis.

Sustainability Coordinator

Job Description: 

The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the successful implementation of sustainable environmental programming at Cruces Creatives. This includes communicating with partners; scheduling, planning, preparing for, and leading events both at Cruces Creatives and at various sites around New Mexico; tracking data; helping prepare reports; and other various tasks. 

Much of the Sustainability Coordinator's job will be focused on setting up and running Field Days and Tree Plantings. Most Field Days are on-site at farms or ranches throughout the state of New Mexico, where the Sustainability Coordinator will support a scientist, farmer, or rancher lead a hands-on environmentally sustainable technique. Field Days often start early, possibly with travel time, or needing to travel the day before, possibly with a trailer or truck full of supplies. Field Days are all-day events which end with a funded meal, where the Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for taking care of meal details and for helping attendees connect. Field Days are concentrated are often concentrated during the growing seasons, with the winter season seeing the Sustainability Coordinator handling more coordination work and fewer events. A Sustainability Coordinator can expect around 10 - 20 Field Days a year. 

The Sustainability Coordinator will also be working to coordinate tree planting events in southern New Mexico which will include outreach, planning, coordinating, developing ordering lists, prepping materials, communicating, and leading on-site volunteers and team members to plant trees.

The Sustainability Coordinator will work closely with the Seeding Regenerative Agriculture Program Director and the Cruces Creatives Co-Director of Operations team members to accomplish their goals in a timely and well-communicated manner. The Sustainability Coordinator is also expected to carefully manage tools and other Cruces Creatives materials, and to keep tools and materials organized. 

All Cruces Creatives Team members are expected to support the mission of Cruces Creatives, and to collaborate with the Team and other project partners to ensure the overall success of Cruces Creatives and its programs - this may mean other unique responsibilities as needed. 

The Sustainability Coordinator position is a flexible position, with options ranging between 20-30 hours a week, and allowing for flexible scheduling and independent time management.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience planning and leading events
  • Preference for previous agriculture experience, especially sustainable agriculture knowledge
  • Must be able to lift 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to work 8+ hours in the sun for field days
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel around the state
  • Enthusiasm for environmental sustainability
  • Ability to and enthusiasm for working with farmers, ranchers, scientists, volunteers, and the general public
  • Ability to plan, communicate, coordinate, and to implement and lead multiple unique events during overlapping time periods 
  • Clear communication abilities, both written and in-person. English and Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems including Google Docs, word processors, spreadsheets, and data entry systems

Compensation:

The Sustainability Coordinator will receive $19/hour, which is a gross amount that is subject to all local, State, Federal, and any other taxes and deductions as prescribed by law. Payment shall be distributed on a bi-weekly basis. 

The Sustainability Coordinator position is also eligible for Cruces Creatives' Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit, and will receive 0.04 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the first year, 0.06 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the second year, and 0.08 hours of PTO accumulation per hour worked for the third year and ongoing years.
