Learn everything you need to record basic audio in the Cruces Creatives sound booth. Through demonstration followed by hands-on practice in small groups, this course covers

  • How to choose the right equipment for your project
  • How to set up and test mixers, microphones, and cables
  • How to record audio in Audacity, an open-source digital audio workstation
  • How to use basic sound editing tools in Audacity
  • How to record basic audio in GarageBand
  • How to use basic sound editing tools in GarageBand

No previous experience with recording or audio engineering is required. By the end of the course, you’ll be ready to record audio for your songs, podcasts, video voiceovers, or other projects.

Cost: Free to members, $10 for general public

Ages: 18 and older, or 12-17 with a parent or guardian

About the instructor:

Pat DeSimio is a songwriter who has worked with recording equipment and audio engineering software for about 15 years. He helped set up and equip the sound booth at Cruces Creatives.
