Empty lots can be eyesores. But they don't need to be! With a little creativity and elbow grease, we can turn some of them into great assets which enhance the entire community.
In our second discussion we'll be talking as fellow citizens about locations you'd like to see transformed; ideas you have for art, landscape, events and more; and with the help of Zeall, a local project management system, start teams to accomplish these ideas.
In the first discussion on June 22nd, the City of Las Cruces brought on ASH+LIME, a planning firm which specializes in creative strategies for underutilized land and buildings. They talked with the community about short- and long-term strategies -- and what we may be able to do in the future, along with some next steps we can take now.
TACTICAL URBANISM is a term used to describe a collection of low-cost, temporary changes to the built environment, usually in cities, intended to improve local neighborhoods and city gathering places. Tactical Urbanism is also commonly referred to as pop-up urbanism, city repair, or D.I.Y. urbanism.
