Adventures In Circuitland (4th - 5th Grade) (2026-04-04)

Join us for 15 exciting sessions of hands-on STEAM making!

Come meet Routy Bright and the gang as your put your engineering brain to work making circuit tiles, a Wiggle Beast, a BabyBristleBot and more.

In this class you'll get a chance to solder LEDs, and create a propeller driven car, build lighted plants and more.

This class is free for 4th & 5th graders, no school affiliation required.

Regular attendance is required. We want students to make the most of this course as our funding is attendance based.

Students must wear closed-toed shoes.

Students should bring a water bottle and are welcome to bring a snack. Other wise, support Cruces Creatives by purchasing snacks from our snack shop.

Please note, that there is no class session on March 21st in accordance with LCPD Spring Break.

In this STEAM-inspired hands-on art class, young makers in K–3rd grade will dive into sensory play, color exploration, building challenges, and even a bit of space-themed discovery.

Students will get to create a variety of fun, imaginative projects such as marbled paper, cyanotype prints, time-machine crafts, sensory bottles, acid-and-base experiments, a custom solar system model, and so much more!

Woodshop Service Learning Ages 10-17 (Saturday) (2026-04-04)

Got a Maker-Mindset? Curious about the woodshop tools, the laser, and the CNC router? This is the class for you!

Middle School students, on Saturdays, will learn basic CAD design skills for use with the CNC router and laser cutter, proper and safe use of woodshop hand tools and power tools, finishing techniques and how to effectively offer their products to other organizations in the community. Make a few things for yourself, and even more things to serve folks around you.

Projects will be determined in class and could include:

Decorative plaques/awards
Signs (sandwich boards, or trail markers, etc)
Little Libraries, or benches.

Materials will be primarily wood and acrylic.

Regular attendance is required for all 12 weeks. We want students to make the most of this course as our funding is attendance based.

Sewing Basics Service Learning Ages 10-17 (Saturday) (2026-04-04)

Ms. Shana is excited to teach you how to use the sewing machine as a tool for making an impact in your community!

Middle School students are invited to participate in this basic sewing class. Students will learn how to use the sewing machine by making their own pillow case, bag and stuffie. As their skills increase, they will be trusted to create items needed by folks in our city. Possible projects include sheets for preschool mats, beds for the animal shelter, and aprons for El Caldito.

Students will also get to practice their business skills by learning how to offer their services and clarify the relevant details.

Students are required to wear closed toe shoes and long hair must be tied back each class session.

Regular attendance is required for all 12 weeks. We want students to make the most of this course as our funding is attendance based.

Charitable Crafting Project (2026-04-04)

Due to youth programming, Charitable will be in the Art Room through May 9th.

The Charitable Crafting Project makes textiles for good causes.

In a collaborative effort, participants work hands-on, each participating as they can. Participants with higher levels of skills in a particular area can guide those with lower skill levels, and we'll make as many garments as we have the time, materials, and labor to make.

This is a free program using donated materials. If you’d like to be involved, you can

Help make clothing by sewing or assisting during the charitable crafting sessions
Donate fabric or other sewing supplies by dropping them off at Cruces Creatives during business hours. The project can use yarn, fabric pieces of ½ a yard or longer, inner facings and linings, and other sewing supplies and notions.
Donate new children's clothing.

Ages:
18 and older, or 14-17 with a parent or guardian present

About the facilitator:
Dina Honeycutt has been sewing and practicing other textile crafts for about 45 years, making clothing and toys for friends, family, and charitable projects. She especially enjoys cooperative work for its opportunities to share knowledge and skills.

3D Advanced Training (2026-04-04)

Build upon the skills learned in basic 3D Printing Training!

Learn how multicolored prints are made using the AMS, and using the software to paint your models.

Prerequisites: Must have completed basic 3D Printing Training

Volunteer Pod

Those who are interested in earning their membership for Cruces Creatives, or are interested in supporting our programs, or are looking to make new friends in our fantastic, artistic community are invited to participate in this volunteer pod.

Tasks vary widely and training is always included. Some common tasks include soldering LEDs and hobby motors, using the laser or Cricut to prepare project materials, light janitorial and organizing work, and plenty of cutting, counting and bundling!

The efforts of our volunteers make all the difference in the programs we are able to offer. We literally cannot do it without you!

Basic Textile Area Safety Training

This is the basic required safety course for using the Textiles Area. After completing this course you will be able to use the basic level sewing machines, cutting tools, and pressing tools.

This class is intended to review safety guidelines, introduce housekeeping rules, and tour notions and materials. If you are hoping for additional sewing instruction Marty invites you to stay after class for questions or extra instruction.

Payment is due at registration (online registration requires payment within 15 minutes in order to reserve space in the class). Cancellations are only available until 48 hours before class. Refunds are only available if class is properly cancelled.

We will:
- Have an introduction to the makerspace and with one another
- Have a deep tour of the building, learning where specific tools and safety devices are
- Learn additional tips, tricks, need-to-knows about Cruces Creatives
- Finish paperwork and systems needs with membership fees, licenses, getting into our communication system, and receiving your RFID card

Bring your state license and your phone. A drink and a snack may be good additions as well.

Join us in the Textile Lab every Thursday from 4:30PM to 6:30PM.

Whether you are brand new to crocheting or an experienced crocheter, all are welcome.

Work on your own project, or take up one of our go-to projects, such as a beanie or scarf. We will explore different patterns, styles, and methods of crocheting to meet the desires of those in attendance.

Bring your yarn and hooks, or make use of ours. Come every week, or show up when you want to.
