Introduction to Gel Plate monotype printing.

We will spend a couple of hours learning about the medium and applying basic techniques to create one or more frameable monotype prints, using traditional and natural materials.

All starter supplies provided, however, if you have your own tools you are welcome to use them.

Please wear comfortable clothes, an apron if you will like, a few leaves, flowers, stones or similar; and a spirit of adventure

Deborah Burian is an award-winning artist who is visually inspired both by wide expanses and the secrets found in hidden hollows. Burian’s work has been described as “luminous” and “exciting” and has been accepted and displayed in many national and regional juried shows, including “Watercolor USA,” the national prairie show, “Horizontal Grandeur,” “National Watermedia Oklahoma,” and the biennial traveling show “24 Works on Paper” sponsored by the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.

Burian has participated in a wide range of collaborative and teaching projects including teaching image composition to alternative education students, participating in the large-scale knit bomb project “The Unbearable Absence of Landscapes” and as a contributing artist to “The Exquisite Corpse,” through the “Artspace at Untitled” in Oklahoma City in 2018. Burian proudly served as the Artist in Residence for the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument in September of 2018 and currently has her solo show, This Land – Prairie to Desert, at Cruces Creatives.
