The days are getting shorter, the air is getting cooler, it must mean it’s Costume Season again! Halloween and the Ren Faire are just around the corner.

There is no more versatile costume piece than the basic shift/tunic.
It can set you up as peasant, or a lord.
Throw a fancy vest on top and tights underneath you are in the Renaissance.
Wrap a leather belt around it and you’re a Viking.
Make it green and Robin Hood appears!
Make it white, wrap your legs in toilet paper and you are a creepy Egyptian Mummy.

Visit the Thrift Shop for material and you could have that perfect tunic for cheap!

Come to class and we will draft a pattern from your own measurements, then cut and sew the tunic. 

The class will be step-by-step instruction with demonstration. 
This is an almost-beginner project. If you can thread your sewing machine and hold a steady seam allowance, you will be able to do this project.
Techniques covered in class will include: accurate measuring techniques, drafting with seam allowance, and sewing machine stitch choices.

• A table cloth, sheet, or drapes from which you want to make your shift/tunic. Please make sure your items have been laundered prior to class. Sewing pet hair or thrift shop dust into your machine is never good for it. You’ll make it sick ;) --more information about fabric selection will be emailed after registration. *** If you are unable to provide your own fabric, please contact me. I may be able to provide material on a limited basis. There will be an additional charge for materials.
• Your sewing machine in good working order. If you haven’t used it in a while, bring the owner’s manual along as well. (If you do not have a machine, please let me know, there are a few loaner machines you can use.)
• Replacement sewing machine needles (Universal point, size 80)
• Thread matching your fabric
• Pins

• Yardstick (if you have one)
