The Crossroads Songcrafting Collaborative is a group where songwriters can support each other through the entire process of creating songs. The basic format is a mini-lesson (a 15- to 20-minute overview of an idea or technique) followed by song sharing and feedback. Mini-lessons are taught by members of the Crossroads Songcrafting Collaborative, and the mini-lessons can cover any aspect of crafting a song: songwriting guidelines, arrangement options, performance techniques, musicianship, recording and mastering techniques, and more. After the mini-lesson, participants who want to can share a song that’s in progress and get feedback from the group.

More Information

What to bring: Yourself and, if you’re sharing a song, at least six printed copies of your lyrics. If you play an instrument, bring that, too. An electronic keyboard is available for pianists.

Cost: Free, with donations welcomed (all donations support Cruces Creatives, a non-profit charity)

About the facilitator: Pat DeSimio is an award-winning Las Cruces songwriter who specializes in traditional-sounding folk music. His songs have been covered by folk musicians and religious groups around the country.
