About the Instructor, Bruce Stanford
With a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of California, Riverside, I have ten years of college level teaching experience the last seven years of which was teaching at the University of Hawaii.
While in graduate school, I developed an interest in sculpting and started my own business while teaching in 1978. I started out making bronze sculptures for sale in high end art galleries throughout Hawaii but as the years and circumstances dictated, I changed the emphasis of my business from the fine arts to the giftware industry. Employing three people I ended up selling my products in 28 different retail stores in Hawaii, Arizona, California and New Mexico. Except for one introductory sculpture course taken at a community college and a bronze casting course at the University of Hawaii I am primarily self-taught as an artist.
